Sustainability
Towards a circular and climate-neutral future
At ArcelorMittal Construction, we are proud to contribute to a more sustainable construction industry. Through innovation, circular solutions, and responsible resource use, we actively reduce our climate impact always with people and the planet in focus.
Sustainable products and solutions

Our products are developed to meet high sustainability requirements and are compatible with international certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM and HQE .
By reducing the use of plastic, chemicals and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and through recyclable materials, we contribute to buildings with a lower environmental impact.
Our commitments
We support the EU's green initiative and the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to below 2°C. To achieve climate neutrality by 2050, we are actively working to:
- Reduce carbon emissions throughout the value chain
- Improve energy efficiency in buildings
- Minimize construction waste and promote reuse, recycling and upcycling
- Switching to renewable energy sources
- Working according to the principles of a circular economy
Partnership for change
We are members of ResponsibleSteel™ , a global initiative that develops sustainability standards for the entire steel value chain. Together with over 40 organizations, we work for the responsible production, sourcing and recycling of steel.
Our roadmap towards climate neutrality
ArcelorMittal follows the C5 Green Commitment strategy , a long-term commitment with the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The strategy brings together our sustainability goals, initiatives and working methods in a common direction to create a more sustainable construction industry.
Through a clear framework with five focus areas, we strive to reduce climate impact throughout the value chain and contribute to more sustainable societies:
- Emission reduction: Reduce carbon emissions from production, transportation and the use of our products
- Green energy: Transition to renewable energy sources and electrification of the vehicle fleet
- Circular Economy: Promote reuse and recycling as standard in construction processes
- Ecosystem conservation: Protecting biodiversity and ensuring sustainable use of natural resources
- Social sustainability: Create a safe work environment and contribute positively to local communities
Our building product declarations (eBVD) provide clear information about the substance content of our products, a growing requirement in sustainable construction. As standards tighten, we actively work with subcontractors to ensure non-toxic production across our supply chain.
Most of our eBVDs are organized by coating type and are available on our library.
These declarations are also essential for environmental assessment systems that rate products based on sustainability performance. Our products are continuously assessed and listed in the following systems:
- Byggvarubedömningen
- SundaHus
- BASTA*
Each product page includes an Environmental Assessments tab to help you make informed material choices.
* Products listed in BASTA meet their criteria for chemical content and environmental safety. Visit www.bastaonline.se for details.

We know documentation can be complex. We're here to support you with the right information based on your project needs.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are a way of reporting the environmental impact of a product. Unlike construction product declarations, EPDs report direct environmental impact in the form of everything from carbon dioxide emissions, to primary energy use and ozone depletion. EPDs are built on environmental results based on a life cycle analysis, "from cradle to grave", of the life cycle of a product or service.
ArcelorMittal Construction is part of the European Profiles and Panels Association (PPA-Europe) which has created several EPDs, including for steel profiles and PIR foam sandwich panels. ArcelorMittal Construction also has its own EPDs.
We see that EPDs are a growing area. We are therefore actively working to bring more to the market for increased transparency and understanding for you, our customers.
You can access all environmental product declarations on our library page .
